After getting home from Colorado less than 12 hours earlier, I got up at 4:15 am this morning (which of course was really 2:15 am Mountain time) to get to the airport. I got down to Washington Dulles only to find out that my connection to Cleveland was going to be 2+ hours late -- they had to change planes a couple of times. I was cutting it close anyway, but I would not have even landed at the airport until well after today's 1 pm start with the Cincinnati Reds. So, I had them route me directly to Chicago -- I lost multiple hours in DC, but I'm on my way there now. I had really hoped to get to Jacobs Field this year. I'll still try, but it's going to be tough to schedule it at this point. I'll be in Chicago for a couple days and am scheduled to return to Boston at 6:06 pm Tuesday, the night of the All-Star Game. I was able to get two tickets for this weekend's All-Star festivities at Fenway through my limousine driver -- they were way more reasonable than any of the prices I saw on the internet, but still, they weren't at all cheap ;-). I had intended for Jan's friend Carol Barnes to use them and attend all the events with Michael Fry, a 12-year-old rabid baseball fan from Westborough whose mother passed away just a couple weeks ago. However, Carol came over last night and put the hard sell on me, claiming that she will have had more than enough baseball by the time Tuesday evening rolls around, if not before, and that Michael would get far more out of his experience if he were to sit with me at the game. I'm not convinced she's being 100% sincere -- she's been hoping I could get tickets for this game as soon as she heard me talking about Coors last year and knew the event was going to be at Fenway this year -- but I finally gave in. So, if my flight gets in on time, I'll be in the Grandstand Section 20 (right behind home plate), Row 8, Seat 12. Regards, Don
